Domain Name Registrations
Domain names are like a phone number that allow prospective visitors to find your website on the Internet.
To uniquely identify all computers on the Internet, every computer is assigned a unique numeric IP Address. Domain names were developed to avoid having to remember the IP addresses of all of the websites we visit. Through the use of Domain Name Servers, easy-to-remember domain names are automatically translated to their corresponding IP addresses, allowing computers on the Internet to communicate with each other.
Domain names typically have several levels, separated by a dot (ie. a full stop). The right-most level is usually known as the top-level domain, or TLD, and is often represented by a country code, such as .nz.
When you have your site built or hosted by Limelight we can register in any TLD of your choice. For New Zealand based sites this is generally a .co.nz domain name. The domain is registered with your company as Registrant so that you are the owner of the domain; however we take care of all the domain management and renewal for you free of charge. We will send you a reminder 42 days before your domain is due to expire to confirm that you wish to renew.

Email Services
All Limelight hosting accounts come preconfigured with up to 10 email accounts. All mailboxes receive Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam filtering as standard.
You can either use the POP3 or IMAP protocols to download your email to an email client such as Outlook Express, Eudora or similar or if you are out of the office you can access your email using webmail. All you need is a web browser and an internet connection.
Hosting Services
We provide hosting as a support product to our design and development products only. Hosting your website with Limelight means you can have the confidence of knowing that your website is not one of dozens hosted on a high contention shared hosting environment. We have our own servers in New Zealand, Australia, US (Dallas), UK (London), Holland and Germany.
As we don't have pre-configured plans restricting which sites we will host, we can customise a hosting solution specifically for your requirements. Do you need more space, more bandwidth, or more email accounts? No problem, we will add them for you – you don’t need to change plans, pay any setup fees or buy anything you don't need.
We have Linux based servers and Windows 2003 servers, and feature rich hosting plans which include full email services and content management systems.
Al our servers are monitored 24/7 by the Systems Administrators in the data centre. On top of this we run independent third party uptime software that monitors all servers from three different geographic locations every hour. If a server or website is found to be offline it is checked from two other locations and if the downtime is confirmed, a text and a follow up phone call are made to our on call support person to advise them of the issue.
