When you are choosing a company to host your website with the main decision should not be about price. If your main target market is New Zealand then your website should be hosted here and you should have a .co.nz domain name. If your target market is mostly the US then your website should really be hosted with a US based company and you should have a .com site.

The reason for this is that locally hosted websites tend to do better in search engine rankings. So, if someone in the US is looking for your type of business your rankings are likely to be better if your site is hosted in the US than if it is hosted in India, for example.

E-Commerce Sites T's and C's

Further to our program of implementing the requirements of PCI-DSS across our network, all eCommerce websites must now display the retailers full commercial terms and conditions, along with a tick box to indicate that the customer accepts the terms and conditions, before proceeding to the payment section of the website.

Banks are no longer issuing merchant accounts to be used with any payment gateway unless this new requirement is met. As our CMS already contains the functionality to easily meet this requirement, we are now implementing this automatically on all new projects utilising our eCommerce module.

We are also undertaking an audit of all eCommerce sites that we host to identify which existing sites to not comply with this requirement of PCI-DDS. Where we find a non-compliant site we will contact the site owner to arrange to make the site compliant for a token charge.
